Karen, what’s your take on America at this time?

“It’s pretty crazy. I wish there was a lot more peace and happiness. The news is very depressing when I watch it, so I pretty much deal with my work, my family, my property, things that I can actually make sense of and touch and actually have a say-so as to what’s going on in my life. I don’t feel that I have a say-so with the way the world’s going. Wish I did, because I’d definitely stand up for a lot of people, things that aren’t going well for them, that should be going well for them.”

There’s a lot of division and chaos in the country. What’s going to change that?

“I don’t know. It’s very sad. Maybe somebody that’s actually been there, and maybe has something that they can show us to really and truly look forward to. Because the way that it’s going, I don’t know. It’s very, very sad. I’m not really a political person, although I do have views and comments. Look at it: our world is beautiful, and we’re destroying it. We’ve gotta make a difference, we have to, and I don’t think anytime is too late. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

“I recycle, I do things like that. I try to be careful about what I do and what I put on the Earth anymore, because it’s not going anywhere, it’s just staying there, and a lot of it is damaging.

When they used to dump garbage and things like that, well, now mother nature she’s done with the way that we’ve been treating her. I think it has a lot to do with the way the weather’s going.

Things are just out of control. I think she’s just fighting back. We need to make a stand for something better. Mother Nature is beautiful. What we have is gorgeous. How can we just destroy it, just say something but not do anything about it.”

If you had a vision of a great America, what would it look like?

“I think we should have done things a lot different a long time ago. , as in recycling, things better for the air, the environment, food wise, health wise, we should have done things a long time ago. You know, you can make a lightbulb that can last for years, a lot of things could have been done a long time ago, but I guess it’s all about the money, and that’s not for me. Where I work, I don’t get paid much, but I’m there for my patients. I love what I do. I’m in the medical field, and that’s an awesome place to be. I don’t know if I make an impact, but I think that I do. I lost my mom back in ’09, and it was then that I decided I want to do something more, that she would want me to do something as well. The medical profession is something that really needs a lot of help. I was her caregiver. They gave her six months, but I had her nine years. So I took some time off for grieving. I lost my best friend. She wouldn’t want me to just sit around, she’d want me to start my own life, and I’m working on that.”

What are your dreams?

“I don’t know yet, but I’m working on that. I’m just trying to heal myself, make things better for myself and my family. I have my own property that I inherited, and I want to make them happy, and I want to make the best of it.”
