John Steinbeck & The Grapes of Wrath
In 1936, John Steinbeck - one of our greatest American writers, and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature - was approached by a San Francisco newspaper to write a series of articles about migrant farm workers. This was during the Depression and times were very difficult for many people.
Out of Steinbeck's acceptance of this assignment came "The Grapes of Wrath", one of the great novels in American literature, a book that awakened the entire country to the plight of these migrant workers.
